Oxfam is launching its first online wedding shop, offering couples an ethical choice for their big day with the added comfort of shopping from home.

The new shop on the Oxfam website will include details of the eleven Oxfam shops with bridal departments, all of which offer a wide selection of new and nearly new designer dresses, specialist advice and fittings.

It”s all aimed at couples planning a wedding that doesn”t cost a fortune and that will make a lasting difference, helping to fight poverty in more than 70 countries around the world.

With Oxfam Unwrapped, couples can set up a personalised wedding list online and receive special cards to send out with their invitations. From bags of seeds to providing communities with safe water, every gift goes where it”s needed most.

Brides-to-be will be able to get their hands on unique pieces, from unworn designer dresses donated by bridal shops, to second-hand and vintage dresses, all for a fraction of the high street price. Also on offer, visitors will find a wide selection roulette casino game of wedding accessories, bridesmaids” and ushers” outfits.

Rick Lay, Oxfam Unwrapped Manager, said: “The Oxfam Unwrapped wedding list makes it so easy to add something different to the big day and it can be chosen in addition to a traditional store list. A couple of goats, health check-ups and classroom kits are guaranteed to get people smiling both at the wedding and in the communities where these gifts will be used. Maybe even William and Kate will have a look at the endless possibilities on offer on the new shop page and start a personalised Oxfam Unwrapped list.”

A special ethical 100% silver jewellery line includes bracelets, necklaces and earrings. The Oxfam wedding shop also features tips from wedding expert and author of ‘Confessions of a Wedding Planner” Tamryn Kirby, who will be offering her advice on how to save money on the big day without compromising on style and elegance.

Tamryn said: “Planning a wedding can be a stressful time and couples want everything to be perfect on the big day. Not only can you find a completely unique dress or gift list that will make a wedding stand out but you”ll be making a difference to someone else”s life at the same time.”
